Annotated Review of "Bachelorette"

In Stephanie Zacharek's movie review of Bachelorette  for NPR, the writer never really talks about the actual filming of the movie, but rather the acting, plot and her personal opinion. In 698 words, she manages to talk about the new trend of directors trying to make characters more "relatable", and mentions the plot and development of characters, but completely ignores any cinematographic aspects or the theme of the movie. Zacharek doesn't seem too pleased with the ending of the movie, which apparently shows the mean bridesmaids turn nice.  The sets, makeup, cinematography and costumes aren't mentioned at all, but the critic does a good job of giving the reader a general idea of the plot. The characters seem to be well-portrayed, and though the writer finds their development too "relatable", she also doesn't try to take the movie very seriously. Overall, the writer's tone makes it seem as if she didn't like the movie, though she praises the writing and acting often throughout the review.

 Ideas for our own reviews:
  • We shouldn't have to write more than a page
  • We should have basic freedom concerning the format of our reviews
  •  A list of aspects we need to touch on should be posted, but we should otherwise have free reign
